I decided to catch up a bit on some Youtubers that I used to watch often. It’s quite nice to see how these people have grown since I stopped following them. I am happy for their achievements. They are very blessed for having others to accompany them throughout their journey. The bad thing is, whenever I do this, it makes me think about coming back to focus more on the west. That is a good thing, but also a bad thing because I don’t know how that would work out. Would I be happy? Would I enjoy the music here again? I don’t even know how to go back to western pop. But I have not forgotten about my roots. I am loyal. I will go back to making covers on my main YouTube, but I think it might just be of Christian and old pop songs. And I hope to achieve something as well, in either or both worlds. Now I need to sleep.

Music & Me (おんがくと私) (음악 그리고 저요)

At first I only listened to Christian and children’s music. Once I moved to 미국 (mi-guk - US) I started listening to lots of American music, but I still listened to the music that I used to. I especially enjoyed Diante do Trono, Kleber Lucas, and Diante do Trono Crianças.

I was a big fan of Hilary Duff. She was my favorite. Around 2005 my sister and I also started listening to the radio since we didn’t have cable or internet at home. We listened to Z100 and danced around a lot. Even back then the radio had lots of inappropriate lyrics, but we had to ignore that. With this new music, my listening to Christian music became an occasional thing, but thinking back, it wasn’t as bad as it is today. :/

In 2008I began to listen frequently to Kleber Lucas’s albumCasa de Davi, Casa de Oração” (House of David, House of Prayer). How I love these songs! My favorites are “O Melhor Está Por Vir” (The Best is Yet to Come), “Perdoado” (Forgiven), “Te Agradeço” (I Thank You), “Perto de Deus” (Close to God), and “Corro pra Você” (I Run to You). All the songs are amazing! (These titles sound and look so much better in Portuguese.) NOTE: Kleber is Carioca (from Rio de Janeiro) Therefore, he has an accent. ^^

In 2009 I started listening to indie music. My favorites are Eye Alaska (“Miles Don’t Mean Anything”) and And Then Were None [“Thank the Watchmaker” (I didn’t know there was a MV until now. o.o)]. They are not active, but they have beautiful music. Then in December I started to listen to some American Christian artists. I bought a CD at Family Christian Stores and got a free CD titled “Wired” with it. Through that free CD, I got to know a taste of a bunch of other artists. Then I bought one album that had a song on that CD: Fireflight. They became my favorite band rather quickly. The next February they released “For Those Who Wait” which I bought almost instantly. It’s an amazing album! The lyrics are just a masterpiece! …

When you’re fighting to believe
In a love that you can’t see
Just know there is a purpose
For those who wait

“That love” refers to two things for me. Not just God, but also the person for me that awaits me. It works either way which makes it even more amazing. But I find that many songs are like that, since God is love after all! ^^

I continued to listen to pop/Disney music from 2003 until 2011. I still enjoy Demi Lovato’s album “Here We Go Again”. It’s her best album without a doubt. My favorite songs are “Stop the World,” “Falling Over Me,” and “World of Chances”.

In 2011 I finally started listening to Korean music. I had been meaning to do that for a while, but never got the opportunity, what without internet. I had already listened to “이 죽일 놈의 사랑” (A Love to Kill) by Lee Soo Young because of the drama I had watched in 2009, but I had not listened to much else. Some of the first few songs I listened to were:

널 붙잡을 노래(The Song That Will Get You; international title: Love Song) by 비 (Rain) - This MV is hilarious! No, no. It’s supposed to be sad, but I had seen people laugh about it on KBS World before, so I couldn’t help but laugh at it. So I don’t find it to be sexy, but rather funny. hehe My sister and I had lots of fun with this song and music video (And it taught is how to say “saranghae”). :)

Gee” by 소녀시대 (So Nyuh Shi Dae - Girls’ Generation/SNSD)

Hello” by SHINee. No, it is no pronounced “shin ee,” but “shiny.” xP

Now I am a big fan of (Some of my favorite artists. I listen to ‘almost’ anything.):

MATE - “난너를사랑해” (I Love You); “” (Why); “우울한너에게” (For My Melancholy); “It’s Alright”; “너에게…기대” (Leaning on You); “우울한 너에게” (Fly to the Sky); “늦은아침” (Late Morning); (ALL OF MATE!!!)

CNBLUE - “LOVE GIRL” (<3 <3 <3); “외톨이야” (I’m A Loner); “LOVE”; “아직 사랑한다” (Still in Love); “Illusion” (Japanese); (ALL of their songs!!!)

U-KISS - “Neverland”; “Tick Tack” (1st Japanese single); “Forbidden Love” (2nd Japanese single); “Stop Girl” (AJ is now studying at Columbia University. He’ll be back soon.)

B.A.P - “Warrior”; “No Mercy”; “하지마” (Stop It)

IU - “좋은 날” (Good Day); “너랑 나” (You And I); “Last Fantasy

Teen Top - “향수뿌리지마” (Don’t Spray Perfume); “나랑 사귈래?” (Will You Go Out With Me?; international title: Be Ma Girl)

Infinite - “Nothing’s Over”; “추격자” (The Chaser)

Ailee - “Heaven

FTISLAND - “바래” (I Hope); “Hello Hello”; “좋겠어” (I Wish)

NowadaysI listen mostly to kpop because it is usually very clean. I know how to stay away from songs and artists that might not be appropriate. I like how innocent its image should be. I like how easy it is to find talent. I listen to anything as long as it fits my style and has no bad words. I love to support others with their dreams and get amazing music in return. :)
